“Times Like These” has received enthusiastic welcome by the audience at the band’s gigs, with crowd rampaging along with this catchy tune, armed with a sing-along-chorus that gets you instantly hooked. It has since become a crowd-favourite and a great reminder of the power this generation actually wields.
The song itself got made during a great turning point in Afternoon Astronauts’ career:
“Times Like These was the last number written for this album out of ten tunes. Unlike the other tunes, “Times Like These” was finished during a period, when we were missing a proper rehearsal place as we had just lost the last one. We had just started constructing a new place in our bass player Jere’s basement. Writing this tune during a time like that (hahah) really motivated us to get the rehearsal room done faster. We just wanted to get to play this one as soon as possible!” the band comments.
“Times Like These” gets its release on Friday 31st of October, along with a music video made together with Framenoir Productions. The video is the first that the band has done, as they’ve been more busy causing ruckus in the Helsinki rock-scene, winning the 2023 Emergenza Festival’s Finnish finals, along with all other cool stuff.

During the shooting of the video, Afternoon Astronauts had been looking for a new drummer for their space crew. Vallu Kousa, the band’s great drummer-friend from alternative act St. Aurora filled in for the shooting of the video. Two months later the band shot more scenes for the video, this time with their new drummer Miika introducing himself in some of the shots.
The Debut album “Fly Among the Storm” sees the stratosphere on Friday 7.11, with a record release-party following the very next Saturday, 8.11. Joining forces with AFAS on the stage of On the Rocks Helsinki are the Dedes & Pretty, two of the most promising alternative rock acts of the scene. You sure don’t want to miss this!
